It is estimated that1.2 million people in the United States are HIV positive. One in five people don’t realize they are infected, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
One in every six new cases of HIV infection occurs in people over 50
According to CDC, African Americans are 14% of the U.S. population and hold the record of having 44% of the new HIV infections in the nation. It is projected that 1 in 4 African Americans will contract HIV within their lifetime. Every 9 1/2 minutes someone in the U.S. becomes infected with HIV.
